سینیٹ میں چئیرمین کے انتخاب کے موقع پر اگرچہ تمام سینیٹرز ہی اہمیت کے حامل تھے لیکن پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کی سینیٹر کرشنا کماری کولہی اپنے تھر کے روایتی لباس کی وجہ سے مرکز نگاہ بنی رہیں۔


پیپلز پارٹی کے ٹکٹ پر خواتین کی نشست پر کامیاب ہونے والی سینیٹر کرشنا کماری تھر کے روایتی لباس میں حلف برداری کے لیے ایوان میں آئیں۔تھری لباس کے ساتھ کرشنا کماری نے کندھوں تک روایتی سفید چوڑیاں بھی پہن رکھی تھیں۔
کرشنا کے ساتھ ان کے والدین بھی تقریب حلف برداری دیکھنے کے لیے سینیٹ ہال آئے۔ انہوں نے بھی روایتی لباس زیب تن کر رکھا تھا۔ صحافیوں سے گفتگو میں کرشنا کولہی نے کہا کہ انہیں بہت فخر محسوس ہو رہا ہے اور وہ اپنی کمیونٹی کو آگے لانے کی کوشش کریں گی۔
کرشناکولہی کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان کی تاریخ میں پہلی مرتبہ ہمیں نمائندگی ملی ہے۔انہوں نے سینیٹ نشست کے لیے ٹکٹ دینے پر پیپلز پارٹی کی قیادت خصوصاً چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری کا شکریہ بھی ادا کیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ پیپلز پارٹی ہمیشہ سے غریب عوام کے ساتھ چلی ہے اور ان کی کمیونٹی سے کسی بھی شخص کا آگے آنا، ایسا صرف پیپلز پارٹی ہی کرسکتی ہے،
کرشنا کولہی کا کہنا تھا کہ میں اب اپنے علاقے کی خواتین کے لیے زیادہ بہتر کام کرسکوں گی۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ میں اپنی کمیونٹی کی فلاح کے لیے بھرپور کوشش کرونگی۔
ایوان کے اندر اور باہر ارکان سینیٹ،صحافی اور سینیٹ اجلاس دیکھنے کے لیے آئے مہمان کرشنا کولہی کے ساتھ تصاویر بھی بنواتے رہے۔

تھرپارکر کے ایک چھوٹے سے گاؤں سے تعلق رکھنے والی کرشنا کماری کولہی پاکستان کی تاریخ میں شیڈول کاسٹ سے تعلق رکھنے والی پہلی ہندو خاتون ہیں جو سینیٹ میں خواتین کی نشست پر کامیاب ہوئیں۔ انتہائی پسماندہ زندگی گزارنے والی کرشنا کولہی نے غربت اور بھوک و افلاس کے ساتھ بچپن کے کچھ سال ایک وڈیرے کی نجی جیل میں بھی گزارے۔
کرشنا کولہی نے انتہائی مشکل حالات میں اپنی تعلیم کے سلسلے کو جاری رکھا اور نویں جماعت میں ہی ان کی شادی کردی گئی۔ تاہم شادی کے بعد انہوں نے اپنے سلسلہ تعلیم کو جاری رکھا۔ سندھ یونیورسٹی سے سوشیالوجی میں ماسٹرز کی ڈگری حاصل کی اور اس کے ساتھ ساتھ تھر اور قریبی علاقے کے غریب لوگوں کی مدد کے لیے فلاحی اور سماجی سرگرمیاں بھی جاری رکھیں۔
بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے خصوصی طور پر کرشنا کولہی کو سینیٹ کا ٹکٹ جاری کیا تھا جس کے بعد آج انہوں نے بطور سینیٹر حلف اٹھا لیا ہے۔
