At least 32 killed, Many injured in Quetta Polling blast

A powerful blast struck Quetta this morning, killing at least 22 people and injuring 28 others. The explosion occurred outside a polling station near Eastern Bypass area. According to sources at the Civil Hospital, it is learned that 22 people have died in the blast while 28 others wounded. They feared that the death toll could increase, as most of the injured were in serious condition. The constituency, where the latest terror attack occurred, is NA-260. DIG Javed Akbar Riaz said the Bomb Disposal Squad was collecting evidence to ascertain nature of the blast. He said the blast was an attempt to sabotage the election. A state of emergency has been declared in nearby hospitals where injured have been moved. Police and rescue teams reached the blast site and shifted the deceased and the injured to a nearby medical facility. It is the first terror attack to have struck the election day. Top Court allows Ex-Dictator to run for Election

Musharraf was expected to return to Pakistan soon and contest elections from four constituencies namely Chitral, Karachi, Jhang and Gwadar. ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed former president retd Gen Pervez Musharraf to file his nomination papers to contest July 25 general elections on the condition that he would appear in person before the court on June 13 in Lahore to attend the court hearing. The directive was issued by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar which had taken up retd Gen Musharraf’s plea against his disqualification by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in 2013. The court assured Qamar Afzal advocate, who was representing the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief, that he would not be arrested by the authorities the moment he landed in Pakistan but also cautioned that the fate of the nomination papers would be subject to final decision of the present case.
