Islamabad-Two Candidate running for NA speakership, PTI has nominated Asad Qaiser to be the candidate for the Speaker of the National Assembly. Syed Khursheed Shah former Opposition Leader nominated by Grand Opposition Alliance after multi-Party conference on Thursday , The grand opposition alliance had decided at a multi-party conference (MPC) on Thursday to field joint candidates for the offices of prime minister, NA speaker and deputy speaker against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) nominees Briefing reporters about the decisions taken by the MPC, PPP leader Sherry Rehman said that her party would nominate its candidate for the office of speaker, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) for deputy speaker and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) would contest for the office of prime minister.

Who is PTI Nominated Speaker Candidates Assad Qaiser 

Asad Qaiser member-elect of the National Assembly of Pakistan and Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf's candidate for the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan. Previously he was the member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018. He is the current and 14th Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, in office since May 2013.

Political Career 

Qaiser began his political career with Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. He joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after its formation in 1996.He became the president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2008 where he served until 2013.

He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of PTI from Constituency NA-13 (Swabi-II) in Pakistani general election, 2013. He received 48,576 votes and defeated Attaul Haq, a candidate of Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (F) (JUI-F). In the same election, he was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a candidate of PTI from Constituency PK-35 (Swabi-V). He received 14,165 votes and defeated Sajjad Ahmad, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N). Following the election, he retained his Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly seat and vacated the National Assembly one.On 30 May 2013, he was elected unopposed as the 14th Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a candidate of PTI from Constituency PK-44 (Swabi-II) in Pakistani general election, 2018. He received 31,658 votes and defeated Gul Zamin Shah, a candidate of Awami National Party (ANP). In the same election, he was re-elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PTI from Constituency NA-18 (Swabi-I). He received 78,970 votes and defeated Maulana Fazal Ali Haqqani.

Following his successful election, he was nominated by PTI for the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.



Who is Khursheed Shah Opposition Nominated Candidate? 

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday named Syed Khursheed Shah for the slot of National Assembly speaker. He will be the joint candidate of all the opposition parties.

Education 

Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah is a politician and lawyer who served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2013 to May 2018. A leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Shah was born in Sukkur and was educated at the Government Islamic Science College Sukkur.

Political Career 

Shah began his political career as the member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in 1988 and had been a member of the provincial cabinet, in various positions. He has been inducted into the federal cabinet thrice between 1993 and 2013. From 2012 to 2013, he also served as the parliamentarian leader of the PPP in the National Assembly.

In 2013, Shah was appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. Shah had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan between 1990 and May 2018.

He was re-elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PPP from Constituency NA-206 (Sukkur-I) in Pakistani general election, 2018


Following his successful election, he was nominated by Grand opposition for the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
