ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government welcomed Sikh pilgrims as they arrived in Pakistan to celebrate the 549th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji from November 21-30 on Wednesday. “On Eidmiladunnabi Pakistan also welcomes Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, (only our mission in New Delhi has issued more than 3500 visas) for the 549 birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib from November 21-30 2018,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal tweeted. KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday told Dr Mahathir Mohamad that Pakistan wants to learn from Malaysia and its leadership. PM Imran, who is on a two-day official visit to Malaysia, while addressing a joint conference with his Malaysian counterpart said, “Presently, our governments are in very similar situations and people gave us both the mandate on an anti-corruption platform.” The premier said he wanted to visit Malaysia as he admires Dr Mahathir and what he has done for his country. “One of the main reasons I wanted to lead to the Pakistani delegation to Malaysia was out of admiration for PM Mahathir. Pakistan’s 11th general election is scheduled to be held today, with 105.95 million voters expected to head to the polls to vote in their respective constituencies across the country. The battle is set to come down to three parties: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). ISLAMABAD|Monitring Desk :   Pakistan and India will conduct a joint military exercise in August this year for the first time since 1947. These exercises are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Peace Mission 2018. Russia, China, India and Pakistan will take part in the exercise, with the mission’s primary focus being counter-terrorism operations. The arch-rivals will conduct this military drill as part of a larger multi-national military exercise in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Although Pakistani and Indian troops have participated together as members of various United Nations peacekeeping missions in the past, this will be the first time militaries of both countries will participate in joint counter-terrorism drills. These SCO multi-nation military exercises are held once every two years and peace mission 2018 will be the fifth edition.
