The Fourth Schedule also includes elements found to be or suspected to be involved in anti-state activities, delivering hate speeches and/or activists of religious outfits not yet banned but related to militancy in some way. Pakistan’s army on Saturday denied any involvement in the abduction of a writer and rights activist who was kidnapped for several hours this week. Asghar Khan case: Nawaz denies receiving Rs3.5mn from Ex-SPY Cheif

ISLAMABAD: Former premier Nawaz Sharif on Saturday denied receiving Rs3.5 million from former ISI chief Lt Gen (r) Asad Durrani in the Asghar Khan case. In the four-page reply submitted to the Supreme Court through his counsel, Nawaz stated that he never received the money from Durrani or under his instructions from his representatives as a donation to spend on the general election campaign of 1990. Nawaz also denied receiving an amount in the sum of Rs3.5 million and Rs2.5 million from Younus Habib or under his instructions. The reply adds that Nawaz Sharif has already recorded his statement on October 14, 2015, before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiry committee. Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday said that tubewell owners in the federal capital are acquiring water for free and selling it to residents, gaining money and causing frequent water shortages. He said this during the hearing of the suo motu notice of water shortage, for which eight alleged tubewell owners, additional attorney general and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) officials were present in the court. One of the eight suspects, Zamrud Khan, informed the court that there was an abundance of tubewells all across the Cantonment which were the cause of the water shortage, adding that he owned none of them. Zamrud also requested the court to ensure the supply of water via alternate channels before shutting down the tube wells.
